Professional Profiles
John Curtis
Mr. Curtis earned his B.A. in Political Science from Furman University, while playing the violin with the Furman Symphony Orchestra and the Furman Fiddlers for four years, on a full music scholarship. He received his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law, where he was honored with the Book Award from professors Bickel and Lake, and the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award. Mr. Curtis earned his LL.M. in International Trade Law and Economics, magna cum laude, from the World Trade Institute (Switzerland). He was awarded a Ph.D. fellowship from the University of Lucerne (Switzerland), where he lectured graduate level law students on the regulation of international trade, as a member of the University's faculty of law. Thereafter, through NCCR, a trade-advisory program of the Swiss government, Mr. Curtis served as an international trade law consultant. Mr. Curtis published an article in the Fall 2006 volume of the Cambridge International Journal of Cultural Property, and edited an article published in the Winter 2006 volume of the Georgetown Journal of International Economic Law. At present, Mr. Curtis is co-authoring an article, which examines the various digital authentication laws within Latin America.
He is a member of the Florida Bar, and practices in the areas of international, admiralty, and aviation law. Mr. Curtis is fluent in French, competent in German, and conversational in Swiss German.
